The ZeroFeed browser extension connects to the ZeroFeed Windows app. Its purpose is to categorise active browser work locally for team work-pattern and observed AI-tool-use summaries.

What the extension accesses

After you enable browser categorisation and the desktop app permits collection, the extension briefly reads the address of the active tab in the focused browser window. It matches the hostname to a broad category, such as email, documents or AI assistants. Unrecognised HTTP and HTTPS websites use a general browser-research category.

It does not read page contents, prompts, messages or typed text. It does not use page titles or query browser history. Addresses, hostnames, paths and queries are not saved, logged or transmitted. Private browsing and non-web pages are excluded.

What leaves the extension

Only the broad category, browser identity and focus/exclusion flags are passed to the installed ZeroFeed app over a local native-messaging connection. The extension has no network upload client, content scripts, advertising or analytics service, or remotely loaded code.

The desktop app keeps coarse intervals locally for up to 28 days and sends weekly counters to your team’s configured receiving service. Team reports require at least five valid contributions. There are no individual productivity scores or personal activity reports. Browser use alone is not proof of AI-generated output, productivity or savings.

Your choices and local storage

The extension stores your browser-categorisation choice locally and its current connection status in browser session storage. It does not keep category observations or browsing addresses in browser storage. Your participation agreement in the desktop app is separate.

You can turn browser categorisation off in the extension or remove it. Pausing the desktop app stops its collection and uploads. It rejects observations outside your collection period or while paused. Withdrawal or uninstall removes the app’s local setup and collection data; already combined team totals cannot be separated into an individual contribution.

Why these permissions are needed

• Tabs: read the active tab address temporarily for local classification.
• Native messaging: connect to the installed ZeroFeed app on this computer.
• Storage: remember your choice and current connection status.
• Alarms: restore the local connection when the browser background worker restarts.

Use of browser data

Browser data and the categories derived from it are used to provide ZeroFeed’s stated team-summary features. They are not sold, used for advertising, provided to data brokers, used for credit or lending decisions, or used to train general-purpose AI models. The extension does not provide raw browsing addresses for human review.

ZeroFeed’s use of information received from browser APIs adheres to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
